The turkey leftovers are making this long holiday break a bonanza of deliciousness. I’ve eaten my weight at two Thanksgiving meals, and have also made Lemon-Orange Cream Gelato, a loaf of bread, breadsticks, and veggie chili.
I am grateful that I have food to put on my table.
Tomorrow, I will caulk and winterize a few more windows in my apartment, maybe put up some weather stripping on the back doors, plug some more holes with insulation, and basically buckle down for the winter.
I am grateful that I can heat my home, even though I can’t afford to.
I’m going to go get my nails done, do a major bout of writing that has been hanging over my head for too long, and find my clothes.
I am grateful for a little time to myself.
I have received some very kind, thoughtful notes from friends who have thought to tell me that I make a positive difference in their lives.
I am grateful that I can do some good for others.
No matter how tired, grumpy, scared, or beaten down I might get, I can always come here to Solomother. When I have great news and am riding the wind, I can bring it to Solomother.
I am grateful for you, all of you who read this (though I wish you’d comment more!) and let me share my life with you, and give me some glimpses into the struggles and triumphs that make up your ordinary, extraordinary lives.

Hi, Pru, you don’t have to be a single mother to be thankful, or have some rough days, or some great ones. I’m glad to see you here!
thank you for showing me that there are things to be thankful for. Even tho i’m not a ’solo mother’ i sometimes feel like i am, rightfully or not…
hey, single mom, thanks for stopping by. I hope Solomother can speak to you more often!
And thank you for sharing your news, that losing your job isn’t the end of the world. I’m glad you were able to turn it into an opportunity! Would love to hear more.
Phooey, I know the problem. So much to read, so little time. I’m just grateful for you and your amazing boys.

i came upon your blog via Martini Mom – I can relate to things you said. I too am grateful for my friends and family and am even grateful that I lost my job, which has opened up a whole new world of possibility for me! Thanks for sharing!
