The hit fashion design show, Project Runway, has featured designers of every ilk, but this season it looks like we’ll get a perspective that’s been missing on past seasons: eco-friendly fashion. Green designer Gretchen Jones, whose MothLove line uses organic cotton and silk and some soy, pencil and bamboo fibers is joining this season of Project Runway, which premiers tonight on Lifetime.
The Portland, Oregon-based designer hopes to create eco-friendly, ethical clothing that sells on a large market: ““I’m a green designer because of my own ethics and my own concerns, but if you don’t have a strong product, it doesn’t matter what your social and ethical practices are […] For the green movement to move forward, we have to create products that are worthy of everybody’s attention and interest and dollar.”
We haven’t even seen the show yet, and she’s already our favorite contestant. We can’t wait to see what her designs will look like on the show (will organic silk fit her challenge budgets???).

Oops! It’s actually http://www.earthcreations.net
I don’t know much about fashion but lately I have been reading a lot about it because I wanted to give my wife a change on her clothing, well she told me she wanted to go completely green, and I said that I would help, but that we needed to get rid or her not so green clothing, she accepted on the condition if I found good green clothing stores.
I can’t find much – actually so far I only got her new socks that I found on sale at http://www.greenhome.com – 3 pair of socks for only $12 . pretty cheap and good quality…
can anyone help me finding other sites like http://www.greenhome.com that I can find everything for the home, from cleaning supplies to women clothing. Actually, I only need environmentally friendly clothing stores because http://www.greenhome.com has the rest for the house…
Thank you!!!
A desperate green husband
Jack,
Try earth creations @ earthcreations.com. Wonderful earth-friendly company. Clothes are mainly organic cotton or hemp, and they are mainly clay-dyed. Most of the clothes are also made here in the U.S. Stuff is well made, too, and lasts. Ck them out!
