The potholder loom is a wonderful little loom. It’s portable, cheap and cheerful, and TOTALLY under-appreciated!
Well… I LOVE it, and design lots of fun and neat things with it.
BUT… you have got to forget about those looper things…. ugh.
Yarn is good.
Yarn is everywhere! It’s got color, texture,
and is a pleasure to work with on the potholder loom.

Everyone thinks that you can only weave squares on the potholder loom.
Not so! I have figured out how to weave a triangle on the potholder loom, and have just made a video that shows how I weave triangles.
I love ‘multi-tasking’ with my tools, so it’s great to be able to weave more than just squares with the potholder loom.
When you are weaving a triangle with yarn on the potholder loom, it’s best to work with the loom sitting on a table or in your lap.
You need to put a little tension on the loom, so that’s why it needs to be anchored and not held up in the air.
I asked my husband to play his guitar while I was weaving, so bless his heart, he did. When I was checking the upload at YouTube, the first little bit of the video sounds really chittery. The original video doesn’t do that, so I am not sure if that’s going to resolve itself – hopefully it will. YouTube is wonderful, but sometimes, it has it’s challenges!

I finally got to see your video of weaving a triangle loom and your technique is so cool. I have one of your books that has the directions in it and although the directions are wonderful, to see it being done by you is definitely a huge help.
I keep saying you have wonderful techniques that you have been sharing with us over the years. Just keep on keeping on and by the way CONGRATULATIONS GRANDMA. Hope you have wonderful times with your newbie grandbabie.

I shot this with my little Flip video, so the audio is not too wonderful, but it’s a pure delight in real life, and the video hints at that….
If your squares are still floppy when coming off the loom, you can definitely chain around, as you have been doing, OR, possibly consider adding another strand of lightweight yarn to beef up the squares somewhat and make them less floppy….

You’ve got me hooked on using the potholder loom for weaving! I started to weave squares for a blanket for my grandson, who will be arriving any time now (not soon enough for his mother).

I’m wondering how you deal with the floppy ends of your squares when you take them off your loom? I’ve actually been crocheting around the square a second time, putting my hook in the back of the stitch and pulling it through like you would when taking it off the loom. Does this make sense? It’s easier to do than describe!
This was a wonderful video. Certainly clear instructions makes me want to go out and buy a loom. I haven’t seen one of these since I was a kid – a long time ago.

Noreen, what a wonderful entry, and just as I’m about to start weaving again!
