I have the photos for one of my March Project Spectrum projects. The first one (below) is in pink and the second one (which is winging its way to me even as we speak) is red. So about the pink one.
I am just making a simple scarf – all garter stitch out of a strand of each of these yarns. I bought this on an impulse buy for two reasons. One, it was on sale at Walmart for a dollar a skein and two, I have received emails asking me about the Walmart brands of yarn. I thought I would try a couple of them out.
The brand name is nobo, which stands for “no boundaries,” the Walmart label. The first one is an eyelash yarn. It is basically a hot pink with flecks of turquoise and black. It has a very soft feel; it is usually priced at around $3.00 a skein (38 meters) which is still economical for eyelash yarn. The other is a ladder or a knock-off of Lion’s Trellis yarn. It is hot pink with connections in the ladder of light pink; the borders of the ladder are a barely noticeable black.
I like these nobo brands of yarn. I am surprised at the quality for the price. I wouldn’t have expected Walmart to be competitive with novelty yarn, but I think they have done well. I would give it a try and see what you think. If these sale prices are good nationwide, you need to stop into your local Wally World and pick some up to try.
I am using a size 15 needle and with the two strands together, have eight stitches on the needle. It is about 3-1/2 inches wide so will be a nice fashion accessory. It works up fast and for $4.00 I don’t think I could have done much better.
When the red gets here, I’ll post it too. I am going for a hat and scarf combo on those. It is a very pretty yarn that I haven’t used before so that should be fun. And since pink and/or red are the March colors, I am working right along on schedule.
I did order some new needles for the Knitting Olympics project. Those aluminum needles were making me nuts. So it is on hold but just until those needles get here. If you have any arthritis or tendonitis in your hands, I recommend you jetison the metal needles and try plastic or wood; I have found it has made a big difference for me.
Hope to hear about your March projects soon! I love these colors and am wondering what everyone is making.

I retired last week and in my gift basket there were five balls of nobo no boundaries yarn. The one that is narrow and then there is a square and then narrow and so on. I can’t find any patterns to knit with this and I sure would love to make something so that I could show them I used it.

This wool that you show in the picture is all the rage at the moment in the UK, but as always the price we have to pay for it here in rip of Britain is much more than it is in the states
