Getting Hitched at Summer Camp: Weird or Wonderful?

Getting Hitched at Summer Camp: Weird or Wonderful?

Okay. I know I was just bashing competitive eating contests at weddings, but when I read this Wall Street Journal article about having a wedding at a summer camp, I was struck by just how fun it seemed. Several couples-to-be have rented out camps for their wedding weekend — usually camps that one of them attended as a child — and brought their guests up in school buses, had them stay in cabins, eat in the mess hall, and play… More »

Things We Won’t Do on Our Wedding Day: Cake Eating Contest

Things We Won't Do on Our Wedding Day: Cake Eating Contest

I’m not sure when that magical day will come, but you can bet your ass I won’t be having a cake eating contest at my wedding reception, like Hall Hunt, a competitive eater, and his wife. Shall I count the reasons why?

1. I really don’t need to be bursting out of my dress. I’m sure I’ll be strapped in pretty tight as it is.

2. All of the extra cake I’ll have shoved down my throat is just taking up valuable… More »

Spectacular Wedding Fruit Display

Spectacular Wedding Fruit Display

Last weekend when I was at the bridal show checking out all the fun wedding ideas, one thing that really caught my attention was this gorgeous wedding fruit display by Mrs. B’s Catering.

It was a spectacular display, using watermelon for bowls to hold the fruit, and fresh kale and greens as a base. There were also grapes and fresh pineapple in there to add to the look, along with white lights twined through the whole centerpiece.

I love the carved watermelon… More »

If you’re looking for some last minute cocktail recipes to use as your signature wedding cocktail, there are some really yummy recipes out there to choose from.

You can offer several holiday cocktails at your wedding, but keep in mind if you offer more varieties, you’ll also have to have more ingredients on hand to make them. That adds cost, and takes up space you might not have in your reception bar area.
