Who knows, maybe they will even help your vagina to love the sport enough that you’ll commute to work on two wheels this week and every week! More »

Say what you will about yoga and all the controversy brewing amongst downward doggers around the world, but no matter which side of the mat you are on, no one can honestly deny that yoga has the power to transform lives.
Case in point: Arthur Boorman. Arthur was a disabled veteran of the Gulf War for 15 years, and was told by his doctors that he would never be able to walk on his own. More »

Sure, your sneakers are perfectly broken in, and you haven’t missed a long run yet, but sitting on a zafu cushion may be the missing stop in your journey towards 26.2 miles (or 3.1 or 6.2 miles), says Sakyong Mipham. More »
When most yoga teachers tell us to inhale deeply and then exhale and “let it all out”, we don’t think they are instructing us to do so with pot. But if you ask Liz McDonald, owner of Brazilian Yoga and Pilates in Los Angeles, getting high before yoga class is like, totally, the hippest way to go deep and get in touch with your body. More »
Most of today’s top trainers will tell you that lifting light weights to slim down isn’t a grand plan, despite fears of “bulking up” from heavy lifting. But a new study says that, on the flip side, adults who are intimidated by heavy weights shouldn’t despair: Lifting little weights can still produce big results in muscle mass. This is particularly good news for older adults who risk injury or joint pain from lifting heavy weights, but need the exercise to maintain muscle mass. For the rest of us? Trainers aren’t so sure this is grounds to give yourself a break at the gym. More »
Doing an Ironman is one thing, but doing 48 of them is impressive beyond words. The grueling 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike and 26.2-mile run is anything but easy. But if you ask Susan Haag, who just crossed the finish line of her 48th ironman distance race, it’s pure joy. In fact, the accomplished triathlete says she likes the way all of this makes her feel–especially afterwards. “I like knowing that God gifted me with my body and my mind. I feel free while I swim, bike and run all around this beautiful outdoor world, knowing that I CAN DO IT.” Read on for more amazing inspiration from Susan: More »
Author, trainer, and Runner’s World contributor Sage Rountree has been using yoga to help athletes better their performance for years. But after getting onto what she calls “a running kick” recently (a “kick” which, by the way, entails 40-mile ultramarathons), Roundtree has turned her attention from football players, Olympians, and soccer stars to runners, from the purely-recreational to marathon-and-beyond variety. And she says, regardless of your distance, if you run and want to improve your speed, form, and overall performance, it’s time to invest in some asanas. More »
Some studies annoy me, some delight, and most often, they make me roll my eyes a little. But a new one from a UK mental health charity ‘Mind’ just makes me really sad: According to their survey, nine out of 10 women over 30 won’t exercise outside because they’re ashamed of their bodies. And the worst part? The majority of them also felt that, if they showed up to a group exercise class, other women would be unwelcoming and exclusive. To which we say: Boo. More »
Depending on where in the country you live, summer is either just around the corner…or it’s already in your driveway, parked, and standing on your doorstep. Wherever you are, when the sun comes out, you can rest assured that you’ll be in good company as you lace up your shoes, bid adieu to the treadmill for a while, and take your workout onto city streets or woodsy trails. But aside from some new scenery, does making the seasonal switch from… More »
Between ad campaigns shot by Terry Richardson and their “sexy” yoga video that pissed off yogis the world over, we thought Equinox had a monopoly on tacky, sexist gym ads. But it appears that Brazil’s Vila Olimpica has broken into the market, one weird, sexist, creepy ad at a time. Well played, Brazil. Well played. More »
